Helen L. Blackburn, age 88,
of Mason, Ohio passed away peacefully Monday, March 4, 2019 at Doverwood Village. Helen was born Sunday, April 13, 1930 in Ashland, Kentucky to Edward and Pearl Short.
Helen taught for 30 years at Mount Healthy and for 10 years in Paulding County, Georgia. She was an original member of the Cincinnati Dulcimer Society. Helen traveled far and wide to play at festivals such as Mossy Creek in Perry, Georgia. In 1998, she and dear friend, Cathy Drury, recorded Long Time Friends, a cd of traditional folk songs.
Helen was proceed in death by: her husband William R."Bill" Blackburn, parents Edward and Pearl Short and daughter, Sandra Potts.
Helen is survived by: daughter, Denise Blackburn, son William E. "Bill" (Teresa) Blackburn; sibling, Lois Ann (John) Lorch; grandchildren, Rachel Potts, Amanda Potts, William K. Blackburn, Taylor Blackburn; great-grandson Eli Potts and great-granddaughter Payton Trotter.
A Remembrance Gathering will take place Saturday, March 30, 2019 3:00-4:30 PM at Doverwood Village, 4195 Hamilton Mason Road, Hamilton, OH 45011.
