Eleanor 'Ellie' Elfers Unger (nee VanSkaik), 95, long time resident of Mason, OH passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 6, 2019. Ellie was born in Cincinnati, OH to Arnold and Nellie VanSkaik in 1923. She is the beloved wife of the late Larry Unger and Whitey Elfers, devoted mother ot Pete (Jane) Elfers, Sherry (John) McCurley and Greg (Peg) Elfers, loving grandma of Adam Elfers, Amy (Jason) Gerardi, Dean (Cheri) McCurley, Jamie (Neal) Wright, Elizabeth (Matt) Doubet, Tony (Melanie) Elfers and Stephanie (Tad) Brittingham and great-grandma of Trent and Grace Gerardi, Reagan and Colin McCurley, Etta and Eliza Wright, Zachary, Charlie and Annie Doubet, Gregory and Charlotte Elfers and Jack and Ty Brittingham, dear sister of Shirley VanSkaik Ybarra and the late Lil VanSkaik Mehaffey, and brothers Don, Arnold, Bob, Ed and Charles. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and friends. She will be dearly missed.

Ellie loved her family above all else and was the happiest when surrounded by her children and their spouses, her seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She loved life and lived it to its fullest. She was a beautiful lady - inside and out - at all stages of her life. Some of her most cherished memories were of Indian Lake vacations, where she spent time with family and friends, fishing, swimming and playing euchre. Ellie quilted, cross-stitched, cooked, and occasionally enjoyed visiting casinos (where she always won, even when she didn't!), Ellie had various jobs throughout her life, and was especially proud of her work Cincinnati Electronics. She will be missed, but her spirit will live in everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Visitation at Mason Christian Village Chapel on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 9:00 AM until time of Service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
