Laurence Mitchell

Laurence Mitchell , age 79, of Mason, Ohio, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 19, 2018.  He was born Monday, August 28, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio to William E. and Grace (nee Deutsch) Mitchell.

Saturday, June 30, 1962, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Cincinnati, Ohio, Larry vowed to love and cherish his best-friend, Janet Wagner.  Over the next 56 years, the two would create a family life full of fun and laughter. Gregarious in nature, Larry lit up a room when he walked in.  The combination of his captivating smile coupled with his bright blue eyes were always and will continue to be a topic of conversation.

Family was the center of Larry's world.  He was a jack of all trades and taught his children how to do everything from catching crawfish in the creek to the maintenance of their vehicles. Traveling in the motorhome to discover new camping destinations and in hopes of finding a good fishing hole always brought a smile to his face.  The family looked forward to the annual trip to Panama City Beach, Florida as they created new memories.  As long as he was with family, Larry was happy.

Larry was a mechanical engineer and enjoyed his profession at XTRON, Cincinnati Electronics, and AVCO, but his true passion was woodworking.  Over the years, he has created family heirlooms such as picture frames, small furniture, carvings of birds, and his famous canes.  His artistic ability also encompassed the gift to paint, creating images his family will cherish for years.  Larry was also blessed with a beautiful voice, singing in the choir at St. Susanna and with a barbershop quartet.


Larry was preceded in death by parents, William and Grace Mitchell; and a brother, Terry Mitchell.

Larry is survived by his wife, Janet (nee Wagner) Mitchell; children, Laurence Mitchell, Kayra (Jamie) Smith, David (Christina) Mitchell and Krista (Ron) Henrich; grandchildren, Zack Smith, Ashley Smith, Ben Smith, Hannah Mitchell, Megan Mitchell, Ross Mitchell, Sam Henrich and Elly Henrich; brothers, Bill Mitchell and Tom Mitchell; and many other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 27, 2018, from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, December 27th at 11:30 am at St. Susanna Catholic Church, 616 Reading Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.  Family and friends will be given the opportunity to share in food and fellowship immediately following the mass.  Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
