Stephanie L. McCowan , a young and vibrant 37 years old, surrendered to multiple myeloma Friday, November 9, 2018 after a courageous year long battle. She had a lot to fight for with the world's best daughter, family and circle of friends.
Stephanie was born Tuesday, November 18, 1980 in Mariemont, Ohio. A graduate of Mason High School, Stephanie loved life and being with the people she loved. Being Jenna's Mom was Stephanie's greatest joy in life. She would always say to Jenna "Love you to the moon and back". Together they took trips to Gatlinburg, New York City, the beach. She loved going to concerts with Jenna, watching her play sports and just having popcorn and movie nights at home.
Stephanie was a fun-loving, thrill-seeking, never-met-a-stranger type of person you would immediately gravitate to. Being adventurous was always on her radar, whether it was traveling, attending concerts, or even sky diving. She was constantly living life to the fullest.
Stephanie also cared about helping others. She volunteered for several organizations over the years including WAVE, an educational arm of the Newport Aquarium, Fernside Center for Grieving Children and Make-A-Wish. For many years, she taught pre-school aged children in the area creating bonds that will forever be cherished.
Stephanie was preceded in death by: maternal grandparents, Robert Lilley and Frances (nee Minks) Lilley; paternal grandfather, Sam McCowan; and paternal grandmother, Pearl (nee Judd) Schneider and grandpa Henry Schneider.
Stephanie is survived by: the light of her life, her daughter, Jenna McCowan; parents, Connie McCowan and Paul (Jill) McCowan; brothers, Doug McCowan and Jake McCowan; niece, Gabrielle McCowan; nephews, Ethan McCowan and Carson Eblen; and many loving family members and friends.
Stephanie's smile and silliness will be missed by all that loved her.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at Sycamore Presbyterian Church, 11800 Mason Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45249. A Service to Celebrate Stephanie's Life will follow at 2:00 pm with Dr. Lawrence W. Kent officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Jenna requests donations in memory of her mom to be sent to Make a Wish, specifically for Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana at www.oki.wish.org .
