A MESSAGE FROM JENNIFER:

We knew it was coming but nothing and I mean NOTHING can prepare you for losing someone you love deeply. You may not know that Mike was a miracle baby born to a mother and father who were RH- and RH+. He survived his birth needing a complete blood transfusion and lived against all odds. I have often felt that God surely must love us both so much to save such a special person and for us to meet, fall in love and marry.

Just as he came into the world defying the odds, he left doing that same thing by being in the 5% of people diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer who survive a year. He endured pain and every other awful thing that goes along with cancer. He fought hard with never ending grace, courage and a strong will to live until his last breath. Truly it was an amazing gift to have a whole year of “lasts” but no one should have to suffer like he did.

Mike and I were married for nearly 26 years and he was a loving, caring father to our three children. He deeply loved his family and friends. What I liked most about him was his kind, generous heart, his spontaneous sense of fun and his great sense of humor. He was a truly good person with high morals, he worked hard and always did the right thing.

There are no words to express how much our family will miss him. The world was definitely a better place with him in it. Honestly, the only comfort I have is that I know where he went. He is at peace now and has been made whole again in the kingdom of heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ. I will never be able to thank our friends and family enough for the help, support and love they gave us over and over this last year, and continue to give us now that he’s gone. There’s a special place in heaven for you all (Mike’s words), and Mike will be there with his great smile to greet us when it’s our turn.
