Irene Nick

January 15, 1922 — July 26, 2018

IRENE “SKIP” NICK, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was born in Detroit, Michigan to Charles and Marguerite Fisher in 1922, the middle of 3 children; older brother Charlie and younger sister Jeanette.  Her mother was a professional seamstress and made many of the clothes for the girls during their childhood.  As a young girl in Detroit, Skip loved to figure skate and performed often in local ice shows.  She also had a beautiful voice, loved to sing, and knew the words and melody of every song.   If a song was playing, Skip was singing!  Following high school, she attended business school and worked prior to marrying Jim Nick in 1942.

Skip and Jim were blessed with 4 children:  Arlene Rescigno (Ralph, deceased) of New York, Linda Pritchard (George, deceased) of Cincinnati, David Nick (Rosemary) of Miamisburg, and Diana Sorrell (Doug) of Miamisburg.

Skip and Jim raised their family in Birmingham, Michigan and relocated to Dayton, Ohio in 1963.  During their entire marriage, Skip and Jim shared the love of playing golf with the many couples in their large circle of friends.

After 69 loving years of marriage, Jim passed in 2011.  Skip lived her remaining years at The Barrington of West Chester surrounded by her family, new friends, and fun activities until she passed July 26, 2018.

Skip was “YaYa” to her 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The grandchildren are James Clingerman, Tony Clingerman (Danielle), Heather Craft, Jennifer Sheil (Rob), Andy Nick (Christiane), JD Sorrell, Katie Pritchard,
Rob Pritchard, and Brook Pritchard (deceased).

The great-grandchildren are Jake, Ty, Haley, and Jack Clingerman, Zach and Ashley Hoke, Maggie and Sarah Sheil, Oliver and August Nick, Elijah Cook, Samantha and Jackson Puterbaugh.

From Her Loving Family:

Our mother loved life and lived it to the fullest.  Her warm and genuine smile drew people to her, she had a kind word for everyone and people loved to be around her.

More importantly, mom loved her family and made every gathering memorable.  We have such fun memories of mom driving her silver convertible wearing a rhinestone ball cap, singing at Suttmiller’s Piano Bar with dad and their many friends, and toasting family with her signature glass of Moscato wine!

Mom shared great wisdom that will carry us forward.  She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
