He was a carpenter with a swift "eye" for measurements. One never knew what his creative mind would build or what unique ideas he had in mind for fixing a problem. He had a passion for raising chickens, as well as, bluegrass music, fishing and hunting. He enjoyed spending time in the woods with life-long friends: Ron, Donnie, Dale and Tim. Chester loved to laugh and always had a good story to share with his closest friends. His optimistic, fearless and stoic outlook on life never presented him with a challenge. Chester lived every day to the fullest doing what he loved the most. His smile and one of kind personality brought such happiness to all.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Smith and Gladys Strunk, sister, Wilma (Willard) Taylor, brother, J.T., sister, Doris ("Bo") Roark, brother-in-law, Jack Hester, and brother-in-law, Jerry Butz.
Chester is survived by his wholehearted and encouraging wife of almost 50 years, Sue (nee Butz), loving and caring daughter, Valerie (Milton, Jr.) Hughes, precious granddaughters Morgan and Libbee, sister, Glenna Hester, brother, Gene (Barbara) Strunk, sister, Fay (Harold) Barnett, brother-in-law, Dan (Barb) Butz, and sister-in-law, Mary Butz.
A celebration of life will be held at Mueller Funeral Home 6791 Tylersville Road Mason, Ohio 45040 on Monday July 30 from 11:00-12:30. Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association .
The family would like to send a heart-felt thank you to Chester's cardiologist, Dr. Stephen Lewis for the outstanding care and support.
