Beverly Winslow

July 20, 1936 — April 19, 2018

Beverly Winslow (nee Rothwell), age 81, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 19, 2018 at The Woodlands of Middletown.  She was born Monday, July 20, 1936 in Frenchburg, Kentucky to William Butler and Bessie (nee Hackney) Rothwell. As a young girl, Bev promised her mother that she would grow up to become a nurse.  After completing her education with the mission school system in Kentucky, she boarded a bus to Miami Valley.  Bev earned her nursing degree from Miami Valley School of Nursing in three years, later earning a Bachelor's of Education from Central State College to maintain her position as School Nurse. Her career as a Registered Nurse spanned over 60 years and included positions at Good Samaritan Hospital in Intensive Care,  at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Rehabilitation and Sarasota Home Health Care agencies serving the Sarasota and surrounding communities.  Bev's love and care for others was recognized not only by her employers, doctors, and co-workers but by her patients and their families.    Growing up with a musical family, Beverly had a passion for music.  While using her musical talents to earn some extra cash while a student in nursing school, Bev met her best-friend and lifelong love, William H. Winslow (Bill).  They would marry on Saturday, March 23, 1957 in Grace United Methodist Church in Dayton, Ohio.  Her family was her pride, passing on to her daughters and grandchildren a loyalty to family and friends and a love for life. Calling both Dayton, Ohio and Sarasota, Florida home, they also loved their church family at Siesta Key Chapel and many Sarasota friends.    With a candid sense of humor, Bev had a special way of making you laugh. We express our deepest appreciation to the wonderful staff at The Woodlands of Middletown who called her a "healer and an ambassador."  She always smiled and others joined her.  Beverly was preceded in death by: her parents, husband,; sisters, Elizabeth Brewer, Juanita Shepherd, Ruth Anna Downs, Barbara Rothwell and Jo Eileen Rothwell; and brother, Eugene Rothwell. Beverly is survived by daughters, Cindy (Mike) Menges and Patty (Craig Sabo) Robles; grandchildren, Billy Menges, Zoe Winslow, Ali (Jared Marchbanks) Robles, Rayce Sabo and Shena Robles; brother, David Rothwell; sister, Bonnie Bolinger; sisters-in-law, Ann (Tom) Fosnaught and Sue (Scott) Putnam; brothers-in-law, Ray Downs, Bob (Barb) Winslow and Joe (Denise) Winslow; and many other loving family members and friends. Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Faith Community United Methodist Church, 8230 Cox Road, West Chester, OH  45069.
