Laura L. Padolik

Laura Lohman Padolik, 54, of Mason Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 3, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Laura was the devoted daughter of Richard and the late Jeannette Lohman, beloved wife of Peter, loving mother of Zachary and Andrew, dear sister of Richard Scott, Leslie (Harder), Randy and Christopher (Llonda) Lohman, loving aunt of Richard (Megan) Harder and Leah Padolik, and doting great aunt of Lucas and Owen Harder.

Laura received her PhD in Chemistry from The Ohio State University in 1990, and spent most of her career as a lecturer at Northern Kentucky University, where she taught primarily General Chemistry lecture and lab courses for nearly 25 years. Laura also served as a student advisor as well as the General Chemistry coordinator in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at NKU for an extended period of time. Her ability to inspire the thousands of students she taught and/or advised was recognized by the university with the NKU Outstanding Academic Advisor Award in 2013 and the Michael C.C. Adams and Susan S Adams Outstanding Non-Tenure Track Faculty Member Award in 2016. In honor of her service to the chemistry department, the annual award given to the outstanding student in General Chemistry has been renamed the Laura Padolik General Chemistry Award.

Laura was a devoted mother and spent countless hours serving as a behind the scenes volunteer for her sons' school and athletic activities. She also served as a Lector at St. Susanna Parish in Mason. Laura enjoyed music, cooking, hiking, and creating quilted and crocheted gifts for family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St Susanna, 616 Reading Rd, Mason OH on Saturday, February 10 at 10:00AM. A reception will follow in the St. Susanna Meyer Center.
