Javi El-Bietar

October 28, 1975 — December 19, 2017

Dr. Javi El-Bietar, age 42, of Blue Ash, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, December 19, 2017.  He was born Tuesday, October 28, 1975.   Javi received his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies. He then pursued residency training in general pediatrics at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn New York where he received an Excellence in Research Award. He continued training in pediatric hematology/oncology at Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children's Hospital, Houston, TX, where he conducted research exploring the in vitro enhancement of antigen specific cytotoxic T cells used in adoptive immunotherapy. He spent an additional clinical training year with Texas Children's Hospital and the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy following the bone marrow transplant fellowship curriculum. After completion, he joined the faculty of the Division of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Immune Deficiency at Cincinnati Children's within the UC Department of Pediatrics in 2013. His clinical and research interests include exploring new treatment strategies for post-hematopoietic stem cell transplant-associated co-morbidities.  Although Javi worked hard and was dedicated to the well-being of others, he was extremely passionate about his family.  Spending time creating memories with his wife of ten years, and their three children was his highest priority.  He could often be found on the basketball court shooting hoops and developing friendships.  Born in San Francisco, California, Javi was a devout fan of the 49ers.  Listening to and playing music could always bring a smile to his face.  Javi is survived by: his loving wife, Nicole Gandolfo; children, Sophie Sabah El-Bietar, Miles Angelo El-Bietar and Livia Violet El-Bietar; parents, Hassan and Marina El-Bietar; in-laws Phil and Marianne Gandolfo; sisters, Suria El-Bietar, Jasmina El-Bietar and Laila Allen; brothers-in-law, Michael Prendergast and Jeremy Allen; sister-and brother-in-law, Christine and Paul Scull; nieces, Cordelia, Ava and Amelie; nephews, Navar, Marcel and Tony; and many other loving family members and friends.  Visitation will be held Saturday, December 23, 2017 from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.  Celebration of Life Service will begin on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Rev.
