James William Burton, 66, of Cincinnati, OH passed away peacefully on Monday, November 20, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. Jim is survived by his beloved son, Spencer Burton, dear brother of Bunny Buchanan, Michael (Jaime) Burton, Randy Burton, Gina (Jeff) Arens, and Steve (Nina) Burton, and many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Jim thoroughly enjoyed the arts. As an original member of the Mason Community Players, he helped to establish the organization as a viable theater group through direction of 12 plays during their first 25 years; more than any other director during that time. You may have heard his voice as "Mr. Paint" on a radio talk show during his employment with Porter Paints. As a member of the OSU Glee Club Jim was privileged to perform at the Rose Bowl in Pasedena, CA. He also was an avid tennis player, volunteering at Kings Island's ATP tennis tournament for 38 years. Jim was a voracious reader with wide ranging knowledge; regularly reading several books at one time. He was active in national politics and recognized for his work in Warren County, having the opportunity to meet Barack Obama during his Presidential campaign. Jim was an advocate for the less fortunate.
He loved his family and his friends and was dedicated to helping others, even to the end. Ironically, he was a cornea donor even as diabetes had taken his vision.
Memorial visitation will be held at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road., Mason, OH 45040 on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 5:30 PM until time of Service at 7:30 PM.
Memorial Donations may be directed to Cincinnati Association for the Blind or The Mason Community Players.
