Byron Monroe Seales

Byron M. "Bob" Seales , age 95, of Mason, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 7, 2017.  He was born Tuesday, March 28, 1922 in Providence, Rhode Island to Byron A. and Sarah (nee Bracey) Seales. Byron was a proud World War II Navy Veteran.  He served on a submarine and destroyer in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters and enjoyed his membership in the Tin Can Sailors Organization.  For many years, Byron spent Veterans Day speaking with students in local schools about his experiences defending our country.  In May, he was the keynote speaker at the Memorial Day Ceremony in West Chester Township and was previously the parades' grand marshal.

A heart made to serve others; he was a member of the Worship Committee at Heritage Presbyterian Church where he also served as a Deacon.  Byron served on; the Board of the Pine Run Homeowners Association, Advisory Board of the Mason Senior Center, and was formerly a member of the School Board of Monroe Township in New Jersey.  He also was active in the West Chester VFW Post 7696 and the Mason American Legion Post 194.  Prior to his retirement in 1985, he worked as a quality control inspector for precious metals and medical equipment and was the Chief Steward and Negotiator for IUE Local Union in Newark, New Jersey.

A man that truly believed Service before Self, Byron was still helping others at the age of 95.  An Honor Flight attendee, he was assisting other veterans in wheelchairs.  He was a great stand-in babysitter for his great-grandsons when needed.  Byron was a fantastic friend and neighbor that would do anything to help another person.

He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.  Byron was preceded in death by: his parents, Byron and Sarah Seales; and his wife, Mary (nee Burrows) Seales on September 6, 2012.  Byron is survived by: his daughter, Beth (David) McHenry; granddaughter, Allison (Matthew) Wischer; grandson, Michael (Heather) McHenry; great-grandchildren, Collin Wischer, Reid Wischer, Wade Wischer and Finnegan Byron McHenry; and many loving friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Heritage Presbyterian Church, 6546 Mason Montgomery Rd., Mason, Ohio 45040.
