Chief Dan Gilbert

Chief Dan Gilbert, age 54, of Cincinnati, Ohio answered his final call Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Christ Hospital.  He was born Saturday, January 26, 1963 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Joe and JoAnn (nee Powell) Gilbert.

On June 9, 1984, Dan married his best friend, Mary (nee Mullen), in Batavia, Ohio.  His family was his pride and joy.  He fought a hard battle against cancer to be able to spend more time with his children and grandchildren.  Dan enjoyed fishing and riding his Razor ATV.  His lawn was always immaculate as Dan found great joy is cutting his grass.  In fact, many of the family's pictures have captured Dan in his glory behind the lawn mower.

Police work was at the heart of his soul.  Dan recently retired as the Village of New Miami Police Chief.  He will be missed by all that knew him.

Dan was preceded in death by: his parents, Joe and JoAnn Gilbert.

Dan is survived by: his wife of 33 years, Mary Gilbert; son, Anthony (Jill) Gilbert; daughter, Elizabeth Danelle Gilbert; grandchildren, Lincoln Gilbert, Larken Gilbert and Baylor Gilbert; siblings, Loretta (Onas) Davidson, Billy (Elizabeth) Gilbert, Richard Gilbert, twin-sister Donna (Randy) Davidson and Matthew Gilbert; also survived by many co-workers, friends and family that loved him.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 6, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.  Interment will be at Lincoln Gilbert Cemetery in Oneida, Kentucky.
