Ali Ghoochoni Yazdian, 78, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. He was born on in Iran to Abolghasem and Farangis (Mokhtar Bakhtyari) Yazdian.
Ali grew up in Ghochan, Iran and immigrated to the United states in 1957 at the age of 18. He spent some time living and working in New York but then moved to Ohio to pursue his studies. He attended both the University of Dayton and Xavier University and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Xavier with emphases in economics and civil engineering in 1969. Ali was entrepreneurial by nature and worked a range of jobs within and outside of civil engineering. The type of work was never as important as his opportunity to interact with others. He enjoyed meeting new people, sharing stories, and learning about new customs and cultures.
Ali met the love of his life Robabe in Cincinnati and married in 1967 in Rasht, Iran, Robabe’s home town. They were happily married for nearly 42 years.
Ali enjoyed reading nonfiction and spent a good deal of his time at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County: Symmes Township Branch and in more recent years, MidPointe Library in West Chester. He was always up for conversation and made a special point of building relationships with individuals from other countries and helping them acclimate to this country. He also took great pleasure in observing and speaking with the young children who frequented the library with their caregivers. He adored children and loved watching his grandson grow most of all.
Ali was preceded in death by his parents Abolghasem and Farangis; his sister, Kobra; and his wife, Robabe.
Ali is survived by his son, Reza; his daughter-in-law, Lisa; his grandson, Alexander; his sisters, Ezzat and Maasoumeh; his brother, Ahmad; and his loving nieces and nephews.
