Alan F. Croy

Alan F. "Pap" CROY, age 76, of Fairfield Township, Ohio passed away peacefully Thursday, June 29, 2017 at his residence.  He was born Saturday, September 14, 1940 in McConnelsville, Ohio to Roy D. and Gertrude (nee Archer) Croy.

Alan served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  He retired after over 45 years as a Regional Manager for Columbia Gas Company.  "Handyman" is a word often used to describe Alan as he could fix just about anything but it also represented who he was as a father, grandfather and friend.  He also enjoyed woodworking and golf.  Alan found fulfillment in helping others anyway he could and asked for nothing in return.  He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

He is survived by his children; Tammy (Rick) Demster, Roche (Marcia) Croy, Mike (Cathy) Blackford, Rodney (Renee) Blackford and the late Roy D. Croy, III, grandchildren; Zach Demster, Bradley Demster, Brennan, Austin and Carson Croy, Amanda Dannenfeldt, Curtis, Shad, Josh, Cory and Carly Blackford, his special friend and companion, Linda McDonald, dear brother of Roy D. Croy, Jr, Susan Newsom and the late Eileen Strauss, Dorothy Croy, Margaret Grandstaff, Mary White and Sarah Miller, also survived by his former wife of 37 years and still friend, Ruth Ann Croy.

At Alan's request there will be no formal service. The Croy family will be holding a "Celebration of Life" picnic in Alan's memory on August 12th for family to gather and rejoice in his memory.
