Philip Duane Garner

September 13, 1955 — June 29, 2017

Phil Garner , age 61, of Fairfield, Ohio passed away Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Parkside Nursing & Rehab.  He was born Tuesday, September 13, 1955 in Garden City, Kansas to Merle Duane and Beverly Jean (nee Wilson) Garner.

Phil served in the United States Air Force, where he worked in the hospital "catching babies".  With a brilliant mind, he held many jobs including computer research, owning/operating a bookstore, medical technician, suicide hotline councelor, casino cash supervisor, and welder.  Phil had quite the collection of vinyl as he loved music.  He was an avid reader often studying multiple books at the same time.  It was not uncommon for him to be able to quote from these books.  Stephen King was one of Phil's favorite authors.  The library was filled with every book that he wrote and also had the autograph of Mr. King.

Phil had a heart as big as Texas.  One of his favorite places was Lake Tahoe.  He was passionate about the conservation of land and protecting the water.

Phil was preceded in death by: his father, Duane Garner; and a brother-in-law, Tom Schneider.

Phil is survived by: his mother, Bev Garner; sons, Desmond Garner and Hunter (Christina Mulvane) Garner; granddaughters, Alyssa Jauregui, Makayla Jauregui, Sadie Jauregui and Isabella Jauregui; sister, Delaine Schneider; brother, Jeff Garner; nieces and nephews, Jaclyn Crawford, Mike Warren, Matt Schneider and Emily DeBord.
