Robert L. Moose

March 18, 1945 — June 26, 2017

Robert Lecky Moose, 72, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2017, after a short illness.  Services will be held at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road in Mason, OH 45040, on Thursday, June 29.  Visitation starts at 10:00 am, followed by a short funeral service at 11:30 am, then lunch will be served in the reception hall at the funeral home.  The funeral service will be conducted by longtime friend, Garry Barnes, and Toni Barnes will sing Bob's chosen hymns.  At a later date, he will be privately cremated and ashes buried at Springhill Cemetery in Liberty Township.

He is survived by his wife, Jeri; daughter, Meridith Kindred (Andrew) of Baldwinsville, NY; step-daughter, Amy South (Tim) of Liberty Township; and five grandchildren: Bradley Ellis, Addison Ellis, Eleanor Kindred, Charles South, and Lucas South.  Bob was predeceased by his parents, George Francis Moose II (Pete) and Eleanor Lecky Moose, and older brother, George Francis Moose III (Pete).  Bob was so proud of his daughter and step-daughter, who both grew up to be extraordinary individuals with successful careers and wonderful families.

Grandpa Bob retired to babysit his grandchildren and watch his favorite television show "The Price Is Right."  The longtime Rosie Red member loved attending Cincinnati Reds' games.  As an avid NASCAR fan, he enjoyed attending races from the dirt tracks of his childhood to his season tickets at the Kentucky Speedway, where his favorite driver won the inaugural Cup event.

He was born in 1945 in North Carolina.  His family moved to Roanoke Rapids, NC, in 1954 to open the Western Auto store.  He loved to tell stories about friends and families doing their Christmas shopping in the toy section of the store, as well as buying appliances, tools, lawn equipment, and bicycles at the old-fashioned "mom and pop" business.  His numerous cousins remember youthful visits to the store where each child went home with a unique toy.  Young Bob and his family attended First Presbyterian Church in Roanoke Rapids, where his mother volunteered in the church office and cared for young children in the nursery until her 90s.  Bob learned integrity, respect, and humility from parents who lived the Golden Rule.

The soft-spoken gentleman found and married his soul mate, Jeri Neal Williams, in 1990 in Jacksonburg, OH.  They worked together for many years, both at former employers and as gardening buddies.  After moving to West Chester, he and Jeri became members of Center Pointe Christian Church in 2016.  In his final days, he was cared for at Doverwood Village, then by Hospice of Southwest Ohio.  His doctors, nurses, and aides came to know and love him in the short time they knew him.  He was the sweetest man that anyone could know, and his family was blessed to have him.  We'll miss you so much.
