Jerry A. Warren, age 66 of West Chester, OH, died May 13, 2017 after a long battle with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Jerry is survived by his wife Teri Role-Warren, his sons, Jerry Warren, Jr. and Brent Warren, his daughters Domenica (Warren) Giallombardo and Bianca (Warren) Lauck, stepsons Nathan Lee and Alex Lee and their families. His father Jack Warren, his mother Reba (Skinner) Fields and his brother Michael Warren preceded him in death. He will be missed by his 10 grandchildren, sister-in-law Tessie Warren, and his nephews Spencer and David Warren and their families.
Jerry was a self-made man from humble beginnings. He was born in Anniston, Alabama, raised in Marietta, Georgia and spent most of his adult life in West Chester, Ohio. Jerry earned his degree in engineering from Georgia Tech and went on to become a Professional Engineer (PE). Jerry travelled internationally during his 30-year career as an associate director for Procter and Gamble. The self-described "simple Georgia boy" sampled and appreciated diverse cultures through his international travel. His country music roots expanded to a love of musical theatre through business trips to London where he began attending plays.
During his tenure at Procter and Gamble, Jerry was proud to have built the Freedom Center in Cincinnati --"on budget and on time", he was pleased to say. The last 5 years of his career, Jerry was honored to be the Associate Vice President of Facilities at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. At Yale he was able to combine his love of architecture and construction by overseeing the restoration, expansion and renovation of historic buildings. Jerry had an insatiable desire to work hard and do good work.
Jerry credited team sports, especially baseball and football, as pivotal in changing him from a "mama's boy" into a physically and mentally strong young man who learned to compete and succeed. Through sports, he found camaraderie as his family made multiple moves from one school district to another during his youth. Jerry led his Georgia pony league baseball and football teams to multiple championships. These wins gave Jerry a drive to be successful to elevate himself and his family. He passed on his love of athletics by coaching youth softball, baseball and basketball. Locally, he reveled in developing the athletic talent of his sons, daughters and stepsons as well as local children. His other civic contributions include many years of service on zoning commission in West Chester, the community in which he lived for most of his life.
In adulthood, Jerry was an avid football fan. Later in life, he took up golf, which challenged him and was a passion for many years. While Jerry loved construction and engineering, he considered his most important work that of taking care of the family he loved.
