Charles A. Plymire

July 4, 1938 — April 22, 2017

Charles A. Plymire, age 78, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Loveland, Ohio, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Bethesda North Hospital. He was born Monday, July 4, 1938 in Springdale, Pennsylvania to Andrew Kovach and Esther (nee Sarkady) Plymire.

Charlie served in the United States Army. He married his sweetheart, Luitgard Seufert, on August 11, 1959 in Germany. They lived in Germany for a little over a year before moving back to the States. In 1962, Charlie founded Cincinnati Precision Instruments "CPI" along with his friend, Donna Behymer.

Charlie and CPI were made for each other. He found his passion in the art of measuring very precisely, down to the millionth of an inch. He would work in his controlled clean room for hours in search of the millionth. He loved teaching others about his passion. He was a pioneer in the metrology industry. When he was not working, his other passions were his grandkids, woodworking and fishing. There was never a body of water that he would not want to throw a line in.

Charlie was preceded in death by: his mother and step-father that raised him, Esther and Virgil Plymire; father, Andrew Kovach; sister, Bonnie Hornsby; and brothers, Harley Plymire and Homer Plymire.

Charlie is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Luitgard "Lulu" Plymire; son, Steve Plymire; grandson, Shane Plymire; granddaughter, Sarah Plymire; brother, Virgil Plymire; sister, Virgene Mallonee; and several nieces and nephews including David Plymire.
