Jeanne C. Poedtke

Jeanne C. (nee Merland) Poedtke, age 79, of Mason, Ohio passed away peacefully Sunday, April 23, 2017 at West Chester Hosptial.  She was born Thursday, September 9, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio to August and Catherine (nee Egan) Merland.

Jeanne took great pride in caring for her family and home.  Watching her family continue to grow through the birth of her eight grandchildren and anxiously awaiting the birth of her first great-granddaughter brought that special glimmer to her eyes along with her heart warming smile.  In addition to her family, Jeanne found her involvement in church to be gratifying.  Along with her daily devotions, she looked forward to reading the Catholic Telegraph.

Jeanne was preceded in death by: her parents, August and Catherine Merland; sister, Patricia Merland; and brother, Paul Merland, SM.

Jeanne is survived by: her husband of almost 59 years, George C. Poedtke; children, Pam Poedtke-Thomas, Douglas (Gwen) Poedtke, Brian (Caroline) Poedtke and Kelley (John Gruen) Poedtke; sister, Lois Jakobi; grandchildren, Austin Thomas, Mara Thomas, Katherine (James) Christophersen, Kristen Poedtke, Madeline Poedtke, Douglas Poedtke, Alexander Poedtke and Christopher Poedtke; and a great-granddaughter on the way.

Visitation will be held Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 9080 Cincinnati Dayton Road, West Chester, Ohio 45069.  Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 AM at the Church.  Inurnment will immediately follow the Mass at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.  Jeanne loved the color green so feel free to wear a touch of green in her memory.
