Douglas E. Hall, age 79, of West Chester, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Mercy Fairfield. He was born Friday, May 28, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York to Edwin E. and Ruth (nee Sturgeon) Hall.
Douglas served in the Army National Guard and he never grew out of his love for tanks. He married his true love, Kathleen E. Friel on Saturday, August 7, 1965. Building rock walls is a talent Douglas will always be remembered for along with his belief that "gorilla glue can fix anything," from keeping cuts closed on his fingers to holding bricks together. He retired from IBM as a Security Manager for Latin America, joking he got paid to set off alarms. Following his retirement, Douglas continued to impact the lives of others, from volunteering his time with the Red Cross, completing and filing income taxes for families, to building homes in communities that needed them, to helping his family and neighbors with projects large and small. He always completed these activities with his award-winning smile and a bit of humor. The number of hearts that have been touched by the love Douglas had to give is amazing.
Douglas was preceded in death by: parents, Edwin and Ruth Hall; brothers-in-law, James P. Friel, Jr. and Gerard J. Friel.
Douglas is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Kathleen E. Hall; children, James E. (Susan) Hall, Mary E. (David) Weil and Peter E. (Laurie E.) Hall; grandchildren, Sean Hall, Brendan Hall, Kathleen Hall and Colin Hall, Kayleigh Weil, Theodore Weil & Meghan Weil and Brooke Campbell; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary E. Friel, SND, Robert P. Friel, Joan Friel and Greta Friel; also survived by many loving family members and friends.
