Donald Malcolm Dummer, 82,
passed away January 7, 2017. Don was the beloved husband of 56 years to Meryle (née Knippling).
Don leaves behind his loving wife, Meryle, son Doug, daughter Victoria, Victoria's partner Brion, daughter-in-law Marianne, and grandsons Alexander, Jacob, Zachary and Christian.
Don grew up in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. He received a full academic scholarship to attend Stevens Institute of Technology, where he received a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering in 1956. He later got his masters degree in engineering from Syracuse University in 1965.
Don and Meryle were married on June 11, 1960. Don initially worked at General Electric in Evendale, Ohio. In 1961, Don transferred with GE to Utica, New York. The family lived in Utica for seven years, and moved back to Cincinnati in 1968.
Don worked on various different projects over the years at GE in Evendale. He retired in 2000, having spent 46 years as a GE employee. In retirement, Don spent his time playing music on the organ, synthesizers, and various other electronic keyboards. He was also an avid amateur photographer. Don was a lifelong learner. He enjoyed challenging himself with "physics for fun" books and loved history. He and Meryle loved to travel. They explored Europe, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and many states and historical sites across the U.S. They also traveled frequently to visit Victoria in Los Angeles, and Doug in Indianapolis. Don enjoyed watching Reds games, Bengals games, movies, Friday lunches with his GE retiree friends, and of course, Fox News.
