Barbara J. Turley

Barbara J. (nee Calvert) Turley, age 85, of West Chester, Ohio passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Hospice of Hamilton.  She was born Wednesday, April 1, 1931 in Charleston, West Virginia to Albert and Bessie (nee Perkins) Calvert.

Barbara received her Associates Degree from West Virginia Northern Community College.  For many years, she owned and operated the Jack & Jill Preschool/Kindergarten in New Martinsville, West Virginia.  She was truly dedicated to the growth and development of the children as she would stay up late many nights preparing items for art & craft projects and even hand sewing costumes for the children's plays.  Barbara was very talented artistically which showed in her paintings, ceramics, and calligraphy.  She was a gifted baker as well creating masterpiece cakes for her sons' weddings.

Barbara was preceded in death by: her parents, Albert and Bessie Calvert; husband, B.K. "Moe" Turley; and daughter, Carol Turley.

Barbara is survived by: her sons, Rob (Nicki) Turley and The Rev. Briane K. (Ann) Turley; grandchildren, Benjamin (Jessica) Turley, Zachary Turley, Meredith Turley and Christopher Turley; sister, Carolyn Rogers; brother, John (Donna) King; and many other loving family members and friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM at St. Anne Episcopal Church, 6461 Tylersville Road, West Chester, Ohio 45069.  A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 PM at Saturday at the Church.  Inurnment will take place in St. James Episcopal Church Columbarium, Roanoke, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Anne Episcopal Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
