Elizabeth Rae Cochrane

May 22, 1941 — December 25, 2016

Elizabeth Rae Cochrane, "Betsy" (nee Landolt), of Maineville, OH, passed away on Christmas day, December 25, 2016, at age 75. She was born May 22, 1941, in Lexington, KY, the only child of Rev. Arthur E. Landolt and Rev. Elizabeth Rae Landolt (nee Claxton). Betsy was raised in Moberly, MO, graduating high school in 1959. She then attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, KS, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree with an English major in 1963. She was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority at KU.

On August 25, 1963, she married Wm. Winston Cochrane IV of Kansas City, MO, whom she met at KU, in a ceremony officiated by her father in his church in Moberly, MO. While living in Milwaukee, WI, Betsy earned a Master of Science/Arts degree in Education in 1966 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and taught English at Shorewood High School. Subsequent family residences included Mt. Vernon, OH, Greensburg, PA, Clinton, NJ, Stow, MA and 30 years in the Cincinnati, OH suburbs of West Chester and Maineville. While she raised her two children, she began displaying her artistic talents by teaching herself photography, resulting in several juried awards and magazine covers. She then expanded into creating beautiful arts and crafts and decorations for the remainder of her life, which were all self-taught. This was her talent, this was her passion.

Betsy had previously endured health battles with breast cancer, lung cancer, larynx cancer and severe spine issues, and suffered from Alzheimer's over the last several years. She succumbed after 7 difficult days of battling pneumonia. This beautiful person is finally pain free and at peace. Betsy will be dearly missed by her survivors: Winston, her husband of 53 years; her son, William Winston Cochrane V of Westwood, OH; her daughter, Elizabeth Rae Roese (nee Cochrane), and her son-in-law, Patrick Lee Roese of Florence, KY; her grandchildren, William Winston Cochrane VI and Ellise Victoria Cochrane; all of whom she loved beyond measure. Her family was everything to her. Visitation and services are being held at the Mueller Funeral Home in Mason, OH. Following cremation, burial will be in the family plot in the beautiful Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH. Memorial donations in her name are suggested to be made to the Alzheimer's Association - Greater Cincinnati Chapter, 644 Linn St., Suite 1026, Cincinnati, OH 45203.
