Thomas R. Seel

Thomas R. Seel, age 54, of Liberty Township, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 14, 2016.  Tom was born Friday, January 5, 1962 in Longview, Washington to George and Corinne (nee Retterath) Seel.

Tom received a Honors Bachelor of Arts in the Classics from Xavier University and his Doctorate of Law from the University of Cincinnati.  He married his best friend and sweetheart, Laura Amiott, on November 29, 1986. A vigorous defender of peoples' legal rights, he took pride in representing the less fortunate through The Legal Aid Society, specializing in housing, landlord and tenant, and predatory lending issues. It was important to him to help families keep their homes and protect their lifetime savings. Tom enjoyed reading and never knew a Jeopardy question he couldn't answer. Watching sports on television was nice, but Tom's true enjoyment was watching Olivia play sports. He was always her biggest cheerleader. Using recipes from his mother and grandmother, Tom was the family cook.

Tom was preceded in death by: his grandma Marian Retterath, his parents, George and Corinne Seel, his uncle Tom Retterath, and aunt Doris Hames.

Tom is survived by: his loving wife of 30 years, Laura Amiott; cherished daughter, Olivia Amiott-Seel; brothers, Jim (Jennifer) Seel and Chuck (Valla) Seel; uncles, David (Kathy) Retterath and Ed Hames; aunt, Marybeth O'Connor; mother-in-law, Joan Amiott; brother-in-law, Paul (Annette Allgeyer) Amiott; sister-in-law, Kathy Amiott; nieces and nephews, Andrew (Gabrielle Toborg) Seel, Zoll Seel, Daniel Seel, Daniel (Allison Zentarski) Amiott and Michelle Amiott; and many other loving cousins, family members, and friends.

A Memorial service will be held privately by the family.
