Douglass Reed Getty, 73
, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016. He was born on March 19, 1943 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to George and Marion (Reed) Getty. After graduating from John Harris High School in 1961, Doug enlisted in the Army and was deployed to Turkey with the Army Security Agency.
Doug and Janet Ray were married in Harrisburg on November 5, 1966 and had two children, Michelle and Nadine. They moved to Cincinnati where Doug worked in the quartz crystal industry. Doug was an avid woodworker and enjoyed making furniture and wood turnings for his family. He was a prolific golfer and loved traveling to vacation spots that had world-class golf courses.
Doug is survived by his wife, Janet, his daughters, Michelle Gallo (husband Tony Gallo) and Nadine Lindquist (husband Dave Lindquist), grandchildren Isaac and Zoe Lindquist, and Dominic, Alex and Isabel Gallo, all of Cincinnati, one sister, Georgia Akers of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and one brother, Sam Getty of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
Memorial Gathering at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, OH 45040 on Saturday, August 20 from 10 AM until time of Memorial Service at 12 noon. Luncheon to follow after the service.
