Thomas Kelly

Charles Thomas Kelly, age 66, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was called home by His Lord and Saviour, Friday, July 29, 2016 at West Chester Hospital. He was born Wednesday, September 14, 1949 in Zanesville, Ohio.

Tom dedicated his life as a public servant in law enforcement.  As a young man, he began his career as a Deputy Sheriff in Muskingum County.  He later worked as a Private Investigator and also as a Private Police Officer. Tom is one of the few recipients of the Buckeye State Sheriff's "Legion of Valor".  He was given this award when he was stabbed during a jaibreak and he was saving another officer's life.  Mr. Kelly was a an (OPTC) Ohio Peace Officers Training Commission,  approved school commander, instructor, and law enforcement firearms requalification instructor. He was the QA of Citizens Protective Services and Associated Professional Services, and has been licensed in Ohio to provide security and private investigation services since 1975. Tom served on the (OPISSC) Ohio Private Investigations And Security Services Commission  Training Committee.  Most recently, Tom was honored with the "Life Time Achievement Award" from Police Officers International.

Tom was preceded in death by: his father, Ross James Kelly; mother, Geraldine (nee Fletcher) Mitchell; and grandparents Paul and Faye Fletcher.

Tom is survived by: his brothers, David (Donna) Kelly of West Chester, Ohio, Ronald (Gail) Mitchell of Hilliard, Ohio and Ken (Sylvia) Mitchell of Zanesville, Ohio; nieces, Kimberly Tilton and Kristina Mitchell; nephews, Jason Mitchell and Brandon; any other loving family members and friends.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2016 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.  The Funeral Service will follow immediately at 7:00 PM at the Funeral Home with Pastor David L. Kelly officiating.

The family requests donations in memory of Tom be directed to Mueller Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
