Clyde L. Dowers

Clyde L. Dowers, age 84, of Liberty Township, Ohio, was taken into God’s arms on Monday, June 13, 2016. He was born Wednesday, April 6, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Clyde and Catherine (nee Staab) Dowers. He grew up in Northside, served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and in 1952, married his sweetheart, Ruth E. Mees with whom he shared 64 years of loving marriage.

For over 45 years, Clyde was an employee and owner of Ohio Tile and Marble which was founded in 1937 and is currently operating under Third Generation ownership. Clyde was not only respected in the industry, but loved by his many colleagues and employees.

In addition to being a strong business leader in our community, Clyde touched many lives through his love of sports. He enjoyed watching all sports but was most fond of coaching and playing baseball. His true passion was coaching and   several of these young men that he mentored later went on to play either collegiately and or professionally.

Through his great story telling, Clyde enriched the lives of everyone he met and knew. He had the ability to recall and retell his memories with such enthusiasm. His stories are now being told just as vibrantly by the younger generations of his family.

Clyde is survived and will be dearly missed by: his loving wife Ruth of over 64 years; His brother Bernard (JoAnn) Dowers; his children, Sharon (Terry) Baird, Dana (Stacy) Dowers, Denise (Frank) Firth and Sean (Michelle) Dowers; grandchildren, Alisha, Tyler, Nikki, Camden, Landon, Annalyse, Ashley, Courtney, Bryson and Aiden; great-grandchildren, Alexis and Brantley ; and many other loving family members and friends.

Clyde was greeted with singing angels and open arms of those that preceded him in death: parents, Clyde and Catherine Dowers; sisters, Catherine, Marjorie, and Elaine; and brothers, Joe and Jerome.
