Stephen Lema

Stephen L. Lema, age 65, a lifelong resident of Mason, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 8, 2016 while camping with his wife in Indiana. He was born in October, 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Edward and Leah (Ruppel) Lema, who preceded him in death.

Stephen had many jobs in his lifetime: farming, auctioneering, manufacturing, small engine and auto repair, retail sales, Mac Tool & Little Debbie sales, construction, and finally, handyman.

His main hobby was collecting anything and everything that suited his fancy. He loved to ride his motorcycle, and also enjoyed family camping trips and hunting.

Stephen was the quintessential handyman. He had the skills to fix just about anything, from cars to clocks. He was generous with his time and talents, often taking time to fix things for family, friends, and strangers alike.

He had a big sense of humor. While it was not always politically correct, it always kept those around him entertained. Though sometimes gruff, animals and children always knew that they had spotted the big softie in the room, and sought him out. Stephen was a man who lived big, and will be missed big by those who loved him. Many of us have lost a touchstone in our lives.

Stephen is survived by: his loving wife, Nora (nee Smith) Lema; children, Steven (Tina) Lema, Jennifer Lema Brooks, Kip (Nikki) Kuhn and Mason Stemann; siblings, Andrea Lema, Michael Lema and Deborah Marksberry; grandchildren, Savanna Lema, Brandon Gross, Branden Fornshell and Austin Witterstaetter; beloved dog, Lucy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Stephen directed to Heartt Animal Refuge in Cincinnati. http://hearttanimalrefuge.org/
