Mark V. LaChapelle was born in Columbus, Ohio April 14, 1960, the 3rd child and only son of H. Vincent and Bernadine L. LaChapelle.
The family moved to West Chester Ohio in 1963 where Mark graduated from Lakota High School in 1978 later obtaining his Assoc. Degree from Bluffton College. Mark moved to California after college to work for GE Aviation where he earned his Airframe & Powerplant Certification. Returning to Cincinnati, Mark worked and retired from GE Power Systems, later working for Standard Aero where he was employed as a Quality Inspector at the time of his death.
Mark was a baptized Christian who took his faith very seriously. In the past 2 years, he was a part of 'Givem Jesus', a 365 day organization committed to establishing a ministry in Jamaica. Mark was proud to be a Board Member and provide support to an out-reach he believed in.
It is his son, Alex, which was Mark's greatest pride and joy, raising him as a single parent to be the great person he is today. Now 24 years old, Alex is studying at the Univ. of Cincinnati and will soon graduate with a BS in Chemistry. Alex intends to continue his education until obtaining his Ph.D.
Being a natural mechanic at heart, Mark collected a small fleet of vehicles of his own and enjoyed working on them in his garage. He also enjoyed a good cigar and would sit in his garage, smoking and thinking of the next home project. Alex has many fond memories of working together with his Dad on cars, in the yard or doing home improvements.
Mark was recently preceded in death by his mother, Bernadine and is survived by his son Alexander, his father H. Vincent, sisters Laura Douglas and Denise (Andrew) Beach, nephew Tyler Douglas, brother-in-law Samuel Douglas plus many relatives, friends and co-workers.
