Madge Frederick

Madge Frederick (nee Matthews), age 96, of Monroe, Ohio passed away peacefully Monday, April 11, 2016 at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village.  She was born Wednesday, November 26, 1919 in Columbus, Ohio to Ethel (nee Woodard) and Dwight Matthews.

On a Saturday, August 23, 1941, Madge married her best friend and love of her life, Marvin R. Frederick.  Unfortunately, Marvin passed away in May of 2001, three months before they would have celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary.  As a homemaker, Madge was very active in her community.  She was a Charter Member of: Sea Island Presbyterian Church, Kirk Choir, Lydia Circle, Chapter A.M. of P.E.O. Sisterhood of Beaufort.  When she moved to the area, Madge joined the P.E.O. Chapter of Middletown.  For 25 years, she was a volunteer at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.  Her family will remember her ability to create beautiful needlework.

Madge was preceded in death by: her parents, Dwight and Ethel Matthews; husband, Marvin R. Frederick; sister, Joan Drake; and a son-in-law, Ken Singleton.

Madge is survived by: her children, David M. (Roberta) Frederick, Nancy J. (John) Brinker, Paul D. (Jan) Frederick and Diane B. (Bruce Micklewright); grandchildren, Lisa (Joe) Strazz, Kara (fiance, Dominic Bertino) Frederick, David (Allison) Frederick, Matthew (Jessica) Moore and Jared (Amy) Moore; great-grandchildren, Julia, Emma and Michael Strazz, Jacob Faulkner, Charles and Edward Frederick, Caleb, Isabel and Grace Moore, Marin (Ben) Potts and Mason Moore; and many other loving family members.

The family will celebrate the life of their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with two Memorial Services.  The first will take place on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Mary H. Kittredge Chapel at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village Chapel, 225 Britton Lane, Monroe, Ohio 45050 with a Gathering of Family and Friends beginning at 10:30 AM followed by a Memorial Service that will begin at 11:00 AM.  The second celebration will be Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Sea Island Presbyterian Church, 81 Lady's Island Drive, Beaufort, South Carolina 29907 with a Gathering of Family and Friends beginning at 10:30 AM followed by a Memorial Service that will begin at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in memory of Madge be directed to Sea Island Presbyterian Church, 81 Lady's Island Drive, Beaufort, South Carolina 29907, or to Mount Pleasant Retirement Village, 225 Britton Lane, Monroe, Ohio 45050.
