John Ralph Bamber, died peacefully at his Lebanon home surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 7, 2016, at age 60. He is survived by his wife Patty (nee Reilly) of 33 years, son and daughter-in-law Jesse and Bethany, son Jared, son Jake, and grandson Zachary. He leaves behind brothers Jim, Greg (Janet), Don, and sisters Lois Wenert (Gary) and Marilyn Dickert (Bob), along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Roger, sister Jean, and parents Ralph and Loretta Bamber.
Born January 23, 1955 in Cincinnati (Madeira), Ohio, John lived in Lebanon and worked at G.E. Aviation in Evendale. He retired in June 2015 following a 26-year career. He was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church in Mason, Ohio.
John was a quiet, selfless, compassionate and humble man. He was always ready to help anyone with a need. He would often stop to assist a stranded motorist or drop everything to work on someone's car or home project when he found out they were having difficulty. He was happy to teach anyone who would listen or watch as he worked. He enjoyed simple things like mowing grass, campfires, and sunsets from his porch swing.
John enjoyed all things mechanical. He had a gift of troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining cars, appliances, and basically anything with moving parts. If he didn't know how to build or fix something, he would go to the library or search online to learn how to complete his project. In his spare time, he golfed, bicycled the Loveland Bike Trail, and enjoyed camping throughout his life. His favorite places, other than being at home with his family, were Hocking Hills or the beaches in the Panhandle of Florida. He will be so greatly missed...
