James A. Griglione

James A. "Jim" Griglione, age 92, of Monroe, Ohio, formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at University Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio.  He was born Saturday, March 31, 1923 in Norwoodville, Iowa to John Griglione and Marie (nee Witt) Griglione.  Jim served during World War II in the United States Navy.  He is retired from the Des Moines Police Department after many years as a Police Officer and also as a Detective.  When he wasn't spending time with his family that he adored, Jim enjoyed woodworking and reading.

Jim is survived by: his loving wife, Peg (nee Zimpelman) Griglione; children, Mark (wife, Noy) Griglione, John (wife, Carolyn) Griglione, Barbara (husband, Mike) Clemens, Jim (wife, Margaret) Griglione and the late Richard Griglione; sister, Anne Sposeto; brother, John Griglione; grandchildren, Karen (husband, Kevin) Martin, Michelle (husband, Rob Baker) Griglione, Tony Griglione, Kathy Griglione, Kristin (husband, Andrew) Herrera, Melissa (husband, Scott) Nelson, Mike Griglione, Elizabeth Clemens and Richard "Richie" Griglione; great-grandchildren, Justin Martin, Drew Martin, Ben Martin, Stephanie Martin, Penelope Baker, Alice Gathogo, Abby Gathogo, Blake Nelson, Brooke Nelson and Camila Herrera.

Jim was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Marie Griglione; 1st wife, Evelyn M. Griglione; brother, Peter Griglione; and sisters, Elaine Griglione, Marie Dorf, Barbara Huss and Adala Amodeo.

A visitation will be held Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 5400 SW Ninth Street, Des Moines, IA 50315. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, January 11 at 10 AM at St. Anthony, 15 Indianola Rd, Des Moines, IA 50315. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens.
