Marilyn (nee Valentine) Tenhundfeld, age 79, of Mason, Ohio, passed away peacefully Monday, October 12, 2015 at home with her family by her side. She was born Tuesday, August 18, 1936 in Shoal, Kentucky to William P. and Lillie (nee Baker) Valentine. After Marilyn graduated from High School, she assisted her mother in the management of their family store. In 1957, Marilyn moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and worked as a book keeper while taking some college courses. After her children were born, she drove a school bus and owned a west-side paper route that she drove herself. Marilyn purchased Tenhundfeld's Carry-out, a staple business in the Monfort Heights area, in 1986 which would start her ice cream and food service business. In 1995 she purchased The Goody Shop where she introduced the community to her secret recipe chili, barbeque, cheesecake and a host of other delicacies. A true business woman, Marilyn purchased the Gold Top Daisy bar and successfully re-established the business. With her long-time business partner, Carol Sandman, at her side and Cara Tenhundfeld, manager of the Goody Shop to 2013, Marilyn enjoyed every aspect of The Goody Shop and insisted she work in it weekly. The family would like to thank the many dedicated employees and patrons of The Goody Shop who brought Marilyn so much joy. She was preceded in death by: her parents, William P. and Lillie Valentine; husband, Joseph Tenhundfeld; sisters, Marjorie Gosney and Mary Lou Ellis; and brothers, Elbert Valentine, Paul Valentine, and Matt Valentine. Marilyn is survived by: her children, Michael Tenhundfeld, Pamela Tenhundfeld, and David (Cara) Tenhundfeld; grandchildren who called her Mima, Zachary and Halle Tenhundfeld & Joseph and Alexa Janus; sisters, Geraldine (Jake) Fitzpatrick and Frankie (Pep) Palmisano; and many other loving family and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040 with a Memorial Mass will following on Friday at 11:30 AM at St. Susanna Parish, 616 Reading Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.
