Billie Joyce Holmes Reid, 88, died peacefully on September 13, 2015, in Mason, Ohio, after a brief illness. She was born in Fairfield, Illinois, to James William and Pearl (Daymond) Holmes, on March 14, 1927. She attended Cincinnati Bible Seminary. There she met Francis R. Reid, of West Village, Illinois, and they married in 1947. They prepared for ministry and served the Lord together over the next 60 years. Their heart was for evangelism and the spread of the Gospel. They developed the Christian Workers' Clinic to skillfully prepare workers to reach many for Christ. Billie worked for the County Auditor in Xenia, OH. Later, during their ministry in Florida, she was the supervisor of testing for the Civil Service Commission and was in charge of testing for nonexempt personnel for the Southeast Region of the United States. Later, she worked for the Veterans Administration Hospital as a Personnel Management Specialist. She retired with over 25 years of service. Billie devoted her musical talents to her work in ministry as an organist, pianist and soloist and was active in church musical productions over the years. She was a talented seamstress and made many of her family's clothes. Also, she and Francis worked together as a team refinishing old pieces of furniture with new upholstery. She is survived by: her husband, Francis, of Mason, Ohio; two daughters, Lyn (Don) Sewell and Judi (John) Troyer; two sons, Damon (Lucy) Reid and Dan (Angie) Reid; 12 grandchildren, Kristi (Curtis) Templeton, Jennifer (Brian) Johnson, Josh (Sonya) Troyer, Jonathan ( Lora) Troyer, JoAnna (Marc) Jones, Jeremy (Kristin) Troyer, Jeff (Allie) Troyer, Adam (Niki) Reid, Rachel (Chad) Brown, Nathaniel Reid, Seth Reid and Danielle Reid; 20 great-grandchildren; her sister, Barbara Thompson; her brother, Damon (JoAnn) Holmes; as well as her nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held in the chapel at Mason Christian Village, Friday, September 18, 2015, at 11:30 AM. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9-11 a.m. Graveside service will be at 2:15 PM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bowersville, OH.
