John E. Wittich, age 58, of West Chester, Ohio passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 9, 2015. John was born Friday, May 24, 1957 in Greencastle, Indiana to John and Leah (nee Elliott) Wittich. He graduated from Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Illinois and received his BA from Hanover College. While John was at Hanover College he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity. John furthered his education and received his masters degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. On Saturday, July 11, 1981 John married the love of his life, Tami. John worked as a Psychologist in several school systems, starting in Vermilion City Schools in Vermilion, Ohio. He spent most of his career in the Lakota School District, West Chester, Ohio and then the last year of his career he was with Talawanda City Schools, Cincinnati, Ohio. Working with children was not just his career, it was his life and passion. Even when he was on vacation, he would carry his clip-board creating new and meaningful ways to work with the students. Hanover College held a special place in his heart as most of his family attended the same school. He was on the Alumni Board serving in several different capacities, most recently being elected to serve as President. John is survived by: his loving wife of 34 years, Tami (nee Ferguson) Wittich; children, Alexandrea (husband, Jonathan) Poeder, Kelsey Wittich and John Kenneth Wittich; grandchildren who loving referred to his as "JJ", Cordelia and Jack Poeder; father, John "Doc" Wittich; sisters, Nan (husband, Marty) Zvonar and Jane (husband, Steve) Tock; mother-in-law, Teddi Ferguson; father-in-law, Gene (wife, Joann) Ferguson; sister-in-law, Angie (husband, Geoff) Curtis; niece, Annie (husband, Adam) Morrisette; nephews, John (wife, Leanna) Tock, Sam Curtis, Max Curtis and Henry Curtis; and many other loving family members, friends and colleagues. A Gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 4:00 pm at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.
