Rev. Gary Jones passed away on April 4, 2015 at Doverwood Village. Gary was born in Evansville, IN in 1932. He was reared by his maternal grandparents, Ira and Elizabeth Lockhart and an uncle and aunt, George and Mary Fleeger. They preceded him in death as did his mother and father and a daughter, Jennifer. Gary was salutatorian of his High School class. He attended Indiana University at Bloomington, University of Evansville and Olivet Nazarene University. He Pastored the Monroe Church of the Nazarene for eighteen years and served as Assistant Superintendent of the Southwestern Ohio District Church of the Nazarene for twelve years. Gary is survived by his wife Doloris (nee Owens) Jones, Son Jeffrey of Dayton, Son Jerry (Pam) of Monroe, a special granddaughter Lindsey (Phillip) Cooley of Dayton, other grandchildren, a special cousin Rita Fleeger (Mike) Rust of Newburgh, IN, two sisters and a brother. Visitation will be Thursday, April 9 6pm-8pm at West Chester Church of the Nazarene, 7951 Tylersville Rd. The Funeral Service will be Friday, April 10 at 1:00pm at the Church with a second visitation starting at 12 noon that day. Burial will be at Mound Cemetery in Monroe following the service.
