Lucille Watkins, age 89, went home to be with her Lord Friday, March 20, 2015. She was born on a Friday, June 5, 1925 in Pulaski, Tennessee to Lacy and Augusta (nee Nelson) Smith. Lucille was and elementary school teacher, but she not only educated her students, she was a mentor and taught them everyday values. Her students will forever hold her dear to their hearts. She was a long-time active member of AME Bethel Church in Holden, West Virginia. Lucille was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. While she found great pleasure in shopping, her greatest love was her family. Lucille was preceded in death by: her parents, Lacy and Augusta Smith; her sisters, Myrtle Batts and Beulah Gillespie; and a brother, Nelson Smith. Lucille is survived by: her husband, Oscar L. Watkins; daughter, Beverly (husband, Gary) Elder; son, Preston (wife, Renee) Watkins; grandchildren, Courtney (husband, Tommy) Nixon, Lisa (husband, John) Gilmore, Cheya (husband, Melvyn) Dixon, Preston (wife, Robin) Watkins II and Chris Watkins; great-grandchildren, Melvyn Dixon II, Meleya Dixon, August Watkins and Chris Watkins II; brother, Lacy (wife, Betty) Smith; a host of nieces and nephews; and many church family and friends. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 10:00 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with Dr. David Palmer, Senior Pastor, Kenwood Baptist Church officiating at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040. Interment will take place on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, in Logan, West Virginia.
