US ARMY VETERAN VIETNAM Theodore Zeller, 69, beloved husband of Sally J. (nee: Megrue) Zeller, cherished son of Herta and the late Theodore Zeller, cherished grandson of Anton and Berta Gangl,devoted father of Sara (Daniel) Chernick, loving grandfather of Casey and Lukas Chernick, dear sibling of Dorothy (Jim) Hess and the late John Zeller. Passed away peacefully February 8, 2014. Ted was born in Cincinnati Ohio in 1945. He grew up in North College Hill and spent his time playing sports and caddying as a boy. He was fortunate to make many life long friends in his youth. He went to Roger Bacon HS and graduated in 1963. He then attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated with a degree in business in 1967. Shortly after graduation, Ted was drafted into the United States Army and served as a communications specialist in Vietnam from 1968-1969. Ted married Sally Megrue in 1976 and welcomed his daughter Sara into the world in 1978. Ted and Sally first resided in Fort Thomas Kentucky, then Columbus Ohio, and moved back to Cincinnati in 1981. Ted lived on Hopewell Hills Dr. for the majority of his adulthood and made many more friends whom he considered family. He walked his daughter down the isle in 2004, bravely battled lung cancer diagnosed in 2005, and welcomed two grandsons into the world in 2010 and 2012. After retirement, Ted became involved with the VA Medical Center and volunteered for years in the Social Work department . He was an active member of the Vietnam Vets of America. He was diagnosed with metastatic lung cancer on New Years Eve 2013 and bravely fought to enjoy his life until his peaceful passing on February 8th. Ted was a lover of life. He was a friend to everyone he met. He enjoyed nothing more than bringing a smile or a laugh to someone's face. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, gigantic smile, and gregarious nature. He loved sports and was an avid OSU fan. He and his daughter enjoyed many a game together in the Horseshoe. Ted also loved to golf and to play poker. He always enjoyed the company of his friends and family to the max. He enjoyed cuddling and reading to his grandsons and was always excited to hear about their new accomplishments. He was their biggest cheerleader. Ted will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Mueller Funeral Home, 6791 Tylersville Road, Mason, Ohio 45040.
