Ray A.Plotner, Carmel Indiana, passed away at his residence on March 24th, 2010. Ray was born in 1925 in Amboy, Indiana to Carl and Gladys Plotner. He was the youngest of seven sons. Ray attended Butler University and began a long career in the shoe business. He married Madonna Lee Miller in 1948 and they opened "Plotners' Shoe Tree" in Logansoprt, IN. Ray and Madonna adopted two children, Troy in 1959 and Leesa in 1961. Ray was very active in his community and was involved in Rotary for 55 years, as well as a lifetime member of the Shriners, Masons, Elks and Community Council for Grissom A.F.B. and a Deacon of Calvary Presbyterian Church. Ray enjoyed emceeing the Iron Horse Festival parade and several local fashion shows. In addition Ray played Santa Clause for several organizations, schools, hospitals and friends and families. This was his gift to others for more than 60 years, including his last "performance" December 2009. After 55 years in retail, Ray retired and he and Madonna moved to Carmel, IN to be near their daughter and her family. Ray stayed active as an independent advertising salesman for 8 years. Ray and Madonna leave behind many dear friends and close family in their 64 years together. Preceding Ray in death was wife Madonna in 2008 and son Troy in 1991. Surviving are daughter Leesa Ehret (Bill), William Adam, Emilee Madonna Cline (Kevin), Troy Patrick and Olivia Kristyn. Ray's brother Darl Plotner (Olive) also survive. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 31st from 4-6 PM in Robertson Chapel at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 100 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN with memorial service immediately following at 6:00 PM. Burial will be Thursday, April 1 at 11:00 AM graveside at Zion Cemetery in Greentown, IN. Contributions may be made to the Carmel Rotary. To send a condolence visit www.muellerparker.com.
