Willie Franklin Hall, also known as Willie, Bill, Dad, and Grandpa, loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his wife Nelma, his children, and grand children, and teaching young children the three Rs. Until the last couple of years, he enjoyed raising a garden, particularly tomatoes and green beans. He also had apple trees and grapevines that the whole family enjoyed. He still enjoyed mowing the lawn on his riding lawnmower through the end of last summer.

Dad was born on October 18, 1915 in McDowell , Kentucky to Mary and Duran Hall. He was one of nine children, three boys and 6 girls. He always spoke fondly of growing up in the hills of Kentucky and the fun that he had with his brothers and sisters. Dad graduated from McDowell High School and Caney Creek Junior College and taught school for awhile prior to joining the Navy during World War II. In the war, Dad was a quartermaster on a Sub Chaser in the Pacific Ocean . Sometime just before he entered the Navy and before he got out, he met Nelma Martin who was to be his future wife. As Dad would say, she was the prettiest girl in Floyd County .

Upon his release from the Navy at the end of World War II, Dad returned to the States and he and Nelma got married on December 24, Christmas Eve, 1945 in Lexington Kentucky . After their marriage, he and Nelma returned to Floyd County Kentucky and settled down. Over the next few years, Dad worked in a bank in Martin Kentucky and he and Mom had two children, Norma and Fred. He left the Bank in about 1954 and sold insurance in Floyd County until he decided to go back to college in 1960 to get his teaching degree so that he could get back into teaching grade school. After he graduated from Morehead State , he returned to teaching grade school in Frankfort , Ohio where the family moved in 1962. After teaching in Frankfort for a couple of years, he moved to Mason , Ohio where he lived the rest of his life. During this time, he taught at Mason for a few years then taught at St. Bernard until he retired in 1985.

After retirement, Dad enjoyed his wife, children, grandchildren, gardening, and of course, the Old Regular Baptist Church of West Chester.
