Doris Judge Crawford

November 16, 1918 — March 11, 2009

Doris Judge Crawford, our mother and a wonderful woman died on March 11, 2009 at the age of 90. She was married for over 20 years to our father Tom who was her college sweetheart and who preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother Charles, nephew Bruce, our spouses Gordon and Joe and our children - Richard and his wife Jill, Jeff, Kate, Andrew, Adam and Christopher -- and their children Connor, Hunter and Harrison, who will dearly miss their "cookie Grandma". Doris was born in New York City but was a lifetime native of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania - a place that was always home to her. She retired from the Mt. Lebanon school district in 1974 and spent her retirement living her passions; spending time with family and friends, Old St. Lukes, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, reading, traveling and cheering on her favorite football teams - the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penn State Nittany Lions. Many of you will remember Doris for her humor, incredible memory, love of a "good story" and limitless caring spirit. We remember a mother who despite whatever hand she was dealt with in life, always put us first, loved her family with every ounce of her being and never stopped "being our mom". She was with us through every twist and turn in our lives, providing unconditional love and support. Mom for all of this and more, we will be eternally grateful. A memorial service will be held in Mason Ohio on Saturday, March 14th at 2:00 PM at the Mueller Parker Funeral Home. A second service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Pittsburgh at a future date. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting that donations be made to the St. Francis of Assisi Breadline, an organization she supported actively with her gifts throughout her lifetime. They can be reached at St. Francis of Assisi Church Breadline, 135 W. 31st Street New York, NY 10001 or http://www.stfrancisnyc.org/). Mom, we will miss you with all of our hearts. You were a source of inspiration, love and comfort. You taught us respect, the importance of hard work and never giving up. You brought out the best in each of us and were our biggest fan. Your love of life, family and friends has created millions of precious memories that we are grateful to be able to carry with us for the rest of our lives. Mom, we will miss you. All our love, Dianne, Linda, Karen and Gail
