Ron grew up in Detroit, Michigan. His family owned a cottage on Lake Huron where he spent many happy summers. He always said that he had a great family and they meant a lot to him. His lifelong love of airplanes led to his attending the University of Michigan. In 1965 he received a MS in Aeronautical Engineering. His first job was in Seattle at Boeing. In 1967 he moved to Cincinnati to work for GE where he retired in 2002. In 1978 he married the former Sandra Pierson. He and his wife have traveled extensively throughout the US and Canada. They also visited many of the Caribbean Islands. On their 25th wedding anniversary they cruised to Alaska. Ron also loved dogs. Currently he had a Yorkie (Max) and a Shih Tzu (Zorro). No one ever treated a canine better than Ron. In his younger years he was an ardent tennis player, completely self taught. His most recent athletic pursuit was skeet shooting. He belonged to the Fairfield Sportsmen's Club where he participated most Sunday mornings, weather permitting. Further, Ron was a member of the NRA and owned an extensive collection of firearms from black powder rifles to antique pistols. He was also an avid photographer specializing in nature and animal shots. He recieved his scuba diving certificate in 1990 and thereafter enjoyed many "guys only" diving trips. In his spare time he enjoyed reading mysteries; his favorites were Nero Wolfe, Sherlock Holmes and Agatha Christie.
