Dennis Michael Newman was born on April 16, 1959 in Yokohama, Japan to Edward Carl Newman and Gertrude Anna Ackerman Newman. Dennis spent the first two years of his life in Japan. In 1962, the Newman family moved back to the United States where they lived in Baltimore in 1961 while shortly later moving to Mobile, Alabama in 1962. Dennis spent his elementary and jr. high years in Mobile. Some of his favorite activities included bowling, baseball, football, and just being outside. In late 1973, Dennis moved back to Baltimore with his mother where he attended Parkville High School. While at Parkville, Dennis played football for his school. After high school, Dennis attended Centre College in Danville, Kentucky from 1977-1981. Dennis graduated with a B.A. with distinction in government. Honors and activities included Phi Beta Kappa, four-year baseball letterman, and president of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. During this time, is when Dennis met Beth and they began dating. In November, 1982 Dennis and Beth married in Beth's hometown of Brookville, Indiana. Dennis also attended Miami University and graduated with a 4.0 (4.0 scale) with an MBA in Management. Dennis was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. Upon graduating from business school, Dennis worked for Hay Management Consultants as an associate from 1986-1988. Dennis spent the next 10 years working for Mead Corporation, He worked for Corporate Staff, School and Office Products Division, and Zellerback Division. During the years at Mead, Dennis and Beth lived in and around Cincinnati. The position at Zellerback took Dennis and his family toTampa, Florida where they resided for five years. Alyssa Katherine Grace Newman was born in Cincinnati in October of 1991. Ashley Elizabeth Newman was born in Tampa in July 1993. From 1998-2006, Dennis worked for xpedx, International Paper, where he was an HR leader. His most recent job was with Cintas Corporation from 2006 to present. While at Cintas, Dennis was a Senior HR Manager of Global Supply Chain, HR Director of Central Region, and HR Director of Cintas Sales. Dennis loved his work but loved even more his family. Dennis worked hard to provide Beth with the opportunity to stay home to raise their daughters. Dennis spent time coaching and umpiring games for his dauthers, Alyssa and Ashley. He thrived on watching his daughters in their activities. He would often leave work early to catch tennis matches and softball games and then return to work to finish out his day. Most recently, Dennis was excited to watch Ashley play softball at Mason High School. Dennis also was so proud of Alyssa in her success of recent performances: Ursuline's Starry Starry Night and Acting Up's Annie. Attending Grace Chapel was another important part of Dennis's week. He loved attending church on Sunday and listening to Pastor Greer. In addition to spending time with his family, Dennis's hobbies and other activities included planning family vacations, (St. Thomas, California, Hawaii, Wyoming, Florida, Mexico, South Carolina, New York). Every summer was spent at a beach either in Florida or South Carolina. His favorite was Fripp Island in SC where he would spend hours searching for interesting shells. Dennis also had Bengals season tickets and would take turns asking various family members and friends to go with him to games. Even though he had Bengals tickets and followed them since moving to Cincinnati, the COLTS were his all-time favorite! This year he attended the first game at their new stadium and has attended as many games as his schedule would allow during the eleven years his family has lived in the area. Another favorite pasttime was boating. He enjoyed going to the Brookville Lake and spending the day with his family, in-laws, sister-in-law and her family, and brother-in-law and his family. Holidays were also cherished by Dennis. He really enjoyed just being home with his family in Mason and also traveling to Indiana to be with his wife's family. Dennis was a wonderful family man that touched many lives and will never be forgotten. God bless you, Dennis.
