Dorothy W. Parker

March 16, 1957 — May 9, 2008

Dorothy W. Parker (nee Wallace), 51, beloved wife of Richard L. Parker, dear mother of Hannah Margaret Parker, dear daughter of Gertrude and the late Patton Wallace, dear sister of Lucille Wheeler (Ken), Curt Wallace and Jerlene Wallace, aunt of Caitlin and Kevin Wheeler, Ryan, Loren, Owen and Morgan Wallace, Parker, Chris and Rick Pollock, niece, great aunt, cousin and friend to many. Passed away Friday, May 9, 2008 in Cincinnati.

Dorothy was born March 16, 1957 in Richlands, Virginia. She attended school in both the Cleveland and Virginia areas and graduated from John Marshall High School where she was invloved in many activities. Dorothy attended Cuyahoga Community College. She held various jobs throughout the Cleveland area but was best remembered as a Project Manager at Norstan Communications. Dorothy became a member of the Lakewood Jaycees where she served as President in 1990-91. It was there that she met her husband, Rick, and they were married on February 14, 1992. When her daughter, Hannah, was born in 1996, Dorothy became a full time Mom and focused on raising her daughter and supporting her husband in many civic organizations. Dorothy continued to serve the Lakewood community by volunteering at the Lakewood Historical Society and the Lakewood Animal Shelter. She also served as President of the PTO at Taft Elementary School in Lakewood. She and her family moved to Cincinnati in August of 2006 where she continued her involvement in her daughter's school and husband's activities.

Dorothy had 3 true passions in her life. First and foremost was her family. Nothing came ahead of her family relationships. Second was the love of her friends. She treasured every moment with friends and made them as much a part of her life as possible. And lastly, she loved all animals, domestic and wild. Her life was cut short by the deadly disease of cancer but she continued to cherish family, friends and animals even as her body began to fail. She truly touched the lives of all who passed her way. Our world is a richer place because of her life. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
