Helen Withers (nee Zavakos), 86, born in Arna (Sparta), Greece on May 20, 1921, preceeded in death by her loving husband Wayne, parents Nicholas and Yianoulal and loving sister Tula Georgas. Survived by children Gail, Lee (Patty), Debbie (Tom) and Brett. Grandchildren Nicholas, Ellis, Emilee, Luke and Jonathon. Special niece Tula Gounaris, her husband Deeno, children Perry, Stacy and Leah. Lifelong member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and a one time choir member. She raised her children, worked, graduated from college and loved painting and art. She loved to laugh, go places and dearly loved her family. She worked as an airtraffic observer at WPAFB and later took flying lessons. She was a fighter and a surviver to the end. Our heart felt thanks, gratitude and appreciation to the entire staff at SICU at Kettering Hospital for the effort, care and compassion shown to our mom. Our mom's stay at Hospice was short but an experience that will be treasured forever. Visitation at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 500 Belmont Park North (next to Art Institute) on Tuesday, April 22 from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am. Interment at Woodland Cemetery.
