Mary Elizabeth (Biggs) Hoot of Mason , Ohio passed away on Sunday November 23 surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born to Margaret E. and Lyle F. Biggs in Toledo, Ohio. She was a graduate of Scott High School, Toledo where she excelled in the visual arts, for which she won a scholarship to Bowling Green State University where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She and her husband, Frank P. Hoot were married in Saint Mark's Episcopal church on Collingwood Avenue in Toledo. Mary and Frank and their children later became members of Trinity Episcopal church in downtown Toledo. After residing several years in Toledo and Perrysburg, Ohio Mary and Frank relocated to Mason in 1983. Mary began a successful arts and crafts business while still living in Perrysburg and continued it until her death, creating and producing hand-painted miniature animals for doll house enthusiasts throughout the world. Some of her works reside in the homes of Hollywood personalities. Mary and her finely painted pieces were often featured in publications for miniature enthusiasts. Mary was an active board member and chaired several committees for the Landen Community Services Association, in Deerfield Township where she and Frank have resided for twenty years. In her three terms in office she was the creator and first editor of the board's newsletter. Mary was predeceased by her loving and beloved son Jay F. Hoot in March of this year; and also a sister, Marguerite (Margie) Hall. She is survived by her husband, Frank of Mason, Ohio; daughters Heather A. Jones and Laurie E. Yetter of Knoxville, Tennessee; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild, also sister, Jean E. Morgan of Toledo, Ohio. There will be no visitation and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, 14 Pennsylvania Plaza, Suite 1400, New York, NY 10122. A memorial is scheduled for Mary at Trinity Episcopal Church in downtown Toledo on December 13 at two PM.
