Charlie earned a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering from University of Alabama in 1947. He also served in England, France and Okinawa as a 1st Lieutenant in World War II in the Army Corps of Engineers. He was employed as an engineer with Procter and Gamble for 39 years. Retired in 1988 as leading the Industrial Engineering for the Paper Products Divisions.

Though Charlie had many passions these are just a few; family (organized a reunion to pull in family from across the country every 2 years), served on Mason Christian Village Cottage Residents Council (where he and LaVerne lived), still active in Metallic Club, the Retired Engineers and Scientists of Cincinnati and the Crestview Presbyterian Church. He also enjoyed very close friends in his Bible Study/discussion group of 30 years and poker group of similar time. He enjoyed playing bridge, Cincinnati Symphony and Pops concerts, taking classes at U.C. and traveling.

In the past he served as President of Llanfair Retirement Community Home Board for 3 yrs, Trustee of Ohio Presbyterian Retirement Community Board Elder, Deacon, Pastoral Search Committees at Wyoming Presbyterian Church, Boy Scouts and his Kiwanis Club.

Words from the family: My father was a man who grew up in the depression and his family lost almost everything including their home. From that start, he grows into as kind and optimistc a person I have ever met. No matter what life brought him he had a positive attitude and his focus was on the needs of others. He had a genuine respect for others and was a devoted and thoughtful friend, grandfather, father, brother and husband.
