Ruth Opal McKibben died August 4, 2009 at the age of 90 at Chesterwood Village, West Chester, OH. She was born July 12, 1919 to Walter and Rose (Schadt) Hefty in Valley Falls, KS. She received a BS degree from Kansas State and Kansas University School of Nursing in 1943. She was married to John V. Sette for 27 years and to John (Jack) McKibben for 18 years. While her children were in school, Ruth was very active in PTA, Cub Scouts and school organizations. She worked as an RN in Parma, OH for 20 years and volunteered at a nursing home after she retired. She was an active member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church until moving to a retirement community in 1993. After retirement, she was active in Christian Clowns and the American Rose Society. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, traveling, gardening, needlework and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, her brothers Russell, Paul and W. Glenn Hefty. She is survived by her sister W. Lois Fowler, sisters-in-law Joann Hefty, Iris Hefty, children Roberta Jaworski, Ronald (Josie) Sette, Carol (Michael) Fahle, Richard (Karen) Sette, John (Marcia) McKibben, Diane (Lloyd) DeVall, Susan (Rick) Whalen, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Parma, OH at 2:00 P.M. on September 19, 2009. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Ruth's memory to Hospice of Southwest Ohio, 7625 Camargo Road, Cincinnati, OH or Alzheimer's Association, 225 N.
