Remembering Yun Shang Jonathan Hsieh, as a Spartan

What is a Spartan..

A Spartan is a doer, a pragmatist at heart,

Who uses skill and knowledge to tackle problems from that start.

A Spartan is a thinker, one who ponders and dissects

Philosophies and edicts for faults they might detect.

A Spartan is a scholar, a student of the land,

Who seeks a better understanding of Providences grand plan.

A Spartan is an artist, a creative soul and muse,

An architect of beauty, song and verse for common use.

A Spartan is a worker, one whos not afraid to sweat;

While moving towards a vaulted goal, labors without regret.

A Spartan is helper, an altruistic being were told,

Providing comfort for the homeless and shelter from the cold.

Above all, a Spartan is a champion no matter what the final score,

Whos intensity and spirit produces feats of storied lore.

For they know that sports are but a game to teach the survival skills of life,

For a real world which beckons them filled with challenges and strife.

Tribute to Dad and Grandpa

Dear Dad/Grandpa:

Thank you and Mom for making the greatest sacrifice of leaving your homeland and family to start a new life in America. You brought us here with the Hope of a better life, education and opportunities for us and your grandchildren.

You worked hard to save and provide for your family. Just as our heavenly Father is a Provider and Protector, you did the same for us. You modeled the Christian values when you embraced Christ. Teaching us the importance of family, friends and relationships, you took us on vacation trips that centered around visiting people. Belonging and participating at CCF, you gave us a spiritual foundation.

Of Faith, Hope and Love, you showed us that LOVE is the greatest of all. You were disciplined, patient and never quick to anger. You always thought the best of people, even those who offended you; you forgave them. You are always thoughtful, always sending greeting cards for birthdays, holidays, and other occasions. You kept up with correspondences when most people have given up.

These are just some of the many life lessons that you have taught us. We thank you for the education that you have provided us and the opprotunity for us to live a comfortable life. Our children are able to further your dreams.

With gratitude and love, we celebrate God's blessing of you! Happy 90-th birthday!!

Love,

RJ, YP, Laurie, RM and Ken

Ben, Ming, Mei, Chris, Allison, Bryan aand Craig
